The reasons for using a test booster are simple. Increased athletic performance, muscle gain, fat loss, libido, a veritable laundry list of desirable masculine traits. Now if only it were so simple to find one that works…

I’m sure I’m not alone in seeming to have tried virtually every ingredient or product claimed to boost testosterone, from A to Z. I’ve lost count of those that did nothing, but some really do work!

And from those, I’ve narrowed it to the top 3…the pick of the litter. I’ve reviewed them below and more than that, I got myself tested and ranked them by 30 day before and after testosterone level BLOODWORK.

Activate Xtreme

Driven Sports formulas always look well thought out on paper. Activate Xtreme (AX) is no exception, it boasts a number of proven testosterone boosting ingredients. More than that, the formula goes the extra mile and includes an anti-estrogen to boot. And it showed in the bloodwork, with a more than respectable 30-day 34% testosterone increase and an estrogen level still within normal range.

Ingredients/Mechanism of Action:

Two of AX’s ingredients, Mucuna Pruriens and Bryonia Laciniosa, work to increase luteinizing hormone (LH), which signals the testes to produce more testosterone. The LH increase is not as large as the one you experience with D-Aspartic Acid, but it still does the job of significantly increasing testosterone levels. They also provide other benefits, such as inhibiting prolactin and regulating the rate-limiting protein stAR, potentially further increasing testosterone levels. Divanil is a nettle extract that decreases the binder SHBG, which allows more of that created testosterone to be freed to circulate through the body. Cholecalciferol, or vitamin D3, is a common nutrient deficiency, that, when corrected, can provide a large increase in testosterone levels in addition to other health benefits. Maca root is included because it is a potent adaptogen, which means it helps ensure optimal function of biological processes such as testosterone production, fighting off stressors such as cortisol.

Lastly, PZole, a proprietary extract, is included as potent anti-estrogen to counter the increase in estrogen that occurs when testosterone levels are raised.

Initial Observations:

Dosing is pretty simple. Take 2 caps twice a day about 30-45 minutes before eating. It took about a week and a half for me to start feeling some of the effects, initially most noticeable in areas like mood and libido. I found the pump effect worth making sure I took one of my 3 caps before workouts.

General Observations/Mood/Libido:

Activate Xtreme was a solid performer in this category. As expected, I picked up a bit of an aggressive alpha male attitude while using the product. I don’t mean some crazy roid rage or anything though, just a noticeable swagger and confidence in how I went about my day. That aggression was also a huge drive in the gym too.

I experienced a decent increase in libido as well, but it wasn’t anything too crazy like I got with D-Aspartic Acid.

Because of the built-in estrogen control, I did notice a firmness and lack of water retention. It wasn’t as pronounced as it was when using PES Erase, but that is too expected since Erase is a standalone estrogen control product (and therefore stronger as a result of the higher dosage).

Workout Performance and Recovery:

Once again, solid. While I’m usually on high volume programs, I happened to be on a low volume, heavy weight program when I tested Activate Xtreme. It provided a unique opportunity to see how AX and test booster products like it might help me push past plateaus.

My bench was stuck at 225 lb for quite a a while…by the end of just 4 weeks, I was doing multiple reps of 235 lb. It wasn’t just the bench either, I got gains all across the board.

And just like in my reviews of the other test boosters, recovery was fantastic, I wasn’t walking around like a cripple after a heavy legs day.

I wasn’t putting in enough reps to really evaluate how good of a pump I could get, but I was happy with the vascularity I was getting considering the relatively low amount of reps I was doing.

Body Composition/Appearance:

Well, this was more of a strength program rather than hypertrophy so I wasn’t expecting for there to be too much muscle mass increase. But the scales did go up.

I was putting on a clean .5-1 lb / wk, mostly good weight according to my calipers. And as I mentioned above, I crushed my max weights on basically every single exercise.

The dryness from the estrogen control combined with the vascularity from the elevated testosterone looked damn good in the mirror too.

Safety/Side-Effects:

There really isn’t much to be worried about with this formula, it’s very well put together. Nonetheless…

Since estrogen control is built into the product, it’s unlikely one should need to worry about any side-effects as a result of estrogen.

The amount of Vitamin D3 included is well within healthy levels and is unlikely to produce any ill effects in the 4-8 week recommended cycle regardness of your diet/multivitamin/lifestyle.

Activate Xtreme states you shouldn’t use it for longer than 8 weeks with a minimum 4 week break before continuing use. It’s important to respect these restrictions and allow the body sufficient rest from the altered hormone levels.

Wrap-Up/Conclusion:

As a standalone product, Activate Xtreme falls short of D-Aspartic Acid (DAA) and PES Erase, which produces a significantly greater testosterone increase for a similar price. However, Activate Xtreme’s formula does make it very well suited to being stacked (combined) with DAA and Erase. The addition of the SHBG-lowering Divanil would allow more of the total test from DAA to be converted to free test while the L-Dopa further protects against any DAA side-effects. Unfortunately, the combined cost of $70+/mo makes it difficult to recommend this combination to most.

Please reply with any questions or comments you may have and I will do my best to respond to them.

    Hello,

I always loved Activate Xtreme, and it’s great to see it’s been backed up with some bloodwork.
What’ll be your next review with bloodwork? I would be interested to see what a 8week cycle of stacking Triazole, Lean Xtreme and Activate Xtreme would do with one’s test levels!

Another one I would like to see happen is a stack of DAA, a plain cheap nettle extract and a pure reversatrol supplement (eg. from Now foods). That would be a cheap stack with some plain and simple ingredients.

I hope this gave you a little inspiration. And I think this blog has some potential. Keep up the good work!

      Hi Bart,

Core Test will be next on the review list. Basically, DAA, Erase, Forskolin, and a little Vit D all in one package. I’m currently on cycle with it and have bloodwork being processed, so we’ll see soon enough and a review will follow.

I do love Driven Sports, great products. That DS stack sounds like a fun lean bulk stack, though I have to confess I prefer Erase to Triazole, same results for less cost in my experience at least.

As for that cheap nettle extract, be careful since the claimed SHBG lowering properties only come for nettle standardized for Divanil, which isn’t particularly cheap. Resveratrol is great stuff, but I prefer it for it’s overall health benefits rather than it’s strength as an anti-E. The stack is a nice idea though, test booster + aromatase inhibitor + anti-shbg. My version of it would probably be DAA + Erase + Divanil.

Yeah, you version (DAA + Erase + Divanil), I would love to see that too! Which Divanil would you choose? I heard AX does not use pure divanil anymore as they believe there was much greater benefit in several nettele root lingans working togheter. Division 1 from Athletix is 400mg pure divanil/capsule.

Anyways, that combo must be great:
DAA (testbooster) + Erase (cort control + anti e) + Divanil (SHGB control)… I think that would be the closest to PS/PH/AAS one can get without using PS/PH/AAS! I really would love to see that combo. I would love to see a manufacturer produce this combo in one affordable combo.

        Keep up the good work!

          Hi Bart,

I think the Athletix Division 1 is probably the best option right now. While there may be some benefit in the different lignans and all, I don’t think you would be losing much by just going for the 3,4-divanil that has the SHBG research on it.

Tongkat Ali is also a solid SHBG controller, but it can be difficult to find supplements made with quality extracts at reasonable prices.

Long story short my buddy just started taking steroids. I am not high on the idea of it due to the risk and possible anger issues. I’m 20 yr old, at about 155lb. (was about 165 before a unfortunate event) would this be my best bet to try? Maybe one of the others? I’ll be honest the changing of your body chemistry is a little nerve racking too me, but mainly the aggression that follows. Please help me out ASAP. Goal: 175, cut. Going for both strength and size but not a walking mass. I’m currently only on miofusion protein powder.. Thanks

      Hi Bryce,

Steroids work, simply put. Moreover, if taken conservatively and carefully, and followed with a thorough post cycle therapy, the risk of long term issues is acceptably low. But as you mentioned, such a drastic change in body chemistry is going to bring with some undesirable side effects in many cases, like the anger you mentioned or sexual problems. Personally, I’m not quite so obsessed with instant results that I will take products that can diminish my bodily functions, even if that’s only in the short term.

The natural products out there present a solid alternative. They can’t compete with steroids but they do give you a solid platform to achieve gains as you build towards your goals over time. Your body doesn’t need to recover from any potential shutdown effects and the side-effects are generally minimal. As far as aggression, it really varies from person to person depending on how their mind and body react to an increase in testosterone. I suspect you’ll note some behavior changes but I doubt you will find yourself raging out of control.

I think it’s well worth you trying one of these products and seeing how it affects you, in the gym and outside of it. Of course, your gains will still only be as good as your diet and workout programs are (mostly diet).
